Autumn at last…
October 25, 2007 by funiculifunicula

So after a bizarre heat wave last week, the weather has finally cooled down into the low 60s, but with today being absolutely freezing in the mid-50s. It’s been gloomy and rainy since yesterday, and it will be for the rest of this week, but I’m still glad that fall has finally come and made the temperature drop. And with fall, of course, comes all the trimmings of the season, including apple picking, pumpkin carving, and Halloween. Sadly, I cannot take credit for the carved pumpkin in the photo above–it was done by my friend Zach in 20 minutes by freehand. Oh how I envy people with artistic abilities.

This week is also “coming out” week, and with it is a number of traditions including chalkings (literally people writing/drawing things on the ground with chalk) in the middle of the night at the start of the week. The above picture is just a sample of what was all over campus before it rained yesterday. On Monday afternoon there was also a “Queer at Swat” student panel that was open to all. The week ends with Queer Shabbat on Friday and a “Glam Redux” themed party at Paces from 10PM-2AM.
I’ll be looking forward to it. Maybe it’ll be the kick in the pants that gets me to work harder on my application. And thanks! I definitely am going to major in English. I’m really excited for those freshman writing seminars that most liberal arts schools seem to require. I think Swat has/had a Harry Potter one? So amazing.
That jack-o-lantern is amazing. 20 minutes? Ridiculous!
