In keeping with my New Year’s resolutions, I am going to be keeping track of all the books I read throught the 2007 year. Virginia Woolf’s A Room of One’s Own has the honor of being the first book.
“But she lives; for great poets do not die; they are continuing presences; they need only the opportunity to walk among us in the flesh.”
Gorgeous and inspiring prose, I believe Woolf is one of the best metaphor makers in the literary world. This book makes me, as cheesy as this may sound, proud to be a woman. Someday I shall commit as a writer and write in a room of my own everyday, pushing myself to reach the elegance Woolf did.
